Lay-Up

Digital solution for planning a lay-up

VesselMan Lay-up module is a tool that provides a standard process on what to think about when putting your ship into a warm/cold lay-up. The process is divided into different aspects of the planning phase and execution phase. The planning phase starts with addressing the scope and from there, it takes you through a step-by-step plan for deactivating your vessel. Then in the execution phase, it provides you with a standard specification task list for all necessary work to be done.

Reactivating the vessel from being laid-up is the second process and is build with the same structure as deactivation of the vessel, which makes the solution easy-to-use and intuitive. It tracks all historical projects on your vessel which is beneficial for upcoming activities and technical projects in the future. This creates a red line through all the standard processes in VesselMan so you can easily - if necessary - plan your upcoming dry-dock while being laid-up.

The ambition with this process is to help ship owners in the preparation of their ships for a period of lay-up and to provide guidance for maintaining the ships in a safe and cost effective condition.

The phases are presented in 3 stages:

Deactiviting vessel

  • Decide the scope for an upcoming lay-up
  • Planning and preparations for deactivating equipment and systems
  • Process for deactivation of machinery
  • Localize and compare locations for your lay-up

In Lay-Up

  • Periodic and necessary inspections
  • Operational task list for service and necessary repairs

Reactivating ship

  • Decide scope and estimate time for reactivation
  • Manning of the vessel
  • Demobilization of equipment
  • Operational task list for reactivation

The Masterplan for lay-up intends to serve as a standard process for the Ship Owner/Ship Manager and should therefore be adjusted to be aligned with your companies procedures. Our team is available to provide all relevant resources with training and to help set up your specifications and structure the way you know it. Last but not least - this helps you get rid of your spreadsheets and makes it easy for everyone involved to track progress on your projects.

Benefits

  • Best practice of how to deactivate and reactivate a vessel with clear descriptions
  • The crew and the captain can deactivate the vessel from off-shore through following the instructions
  • Live updates to shore
  • Selection between warm and cold lay-up
  • Standard task list for all necessary work
