V.Group and VesselMan have set up a partnership to improve dry-docking operations using VesselMan's process and project management platform. This collaboration includes the planning and execution of various generic dry-docking tasks and, in the near future, will extend to an integration with V.Group’s ShipSure platform. V.Group operates through a network of 12 ship management offices, supported by its Group Dry Dock team based in Glasgow. With a workforce of 600 colleagues dedicated to ship technical services, risk management, procurement, and financial services across sectors including tanker, bulker, container, offshore, and leisure, V.Ships stands as a leading entity in the industry. "In 2022, we critically evaluated our internal dry-docking procedures and identified a need to look more closely at how we operate our dry-docking, specifically prioritising efficient time management. Establishing a standardised 'best practice' process applicable across our fleet and client base was imperative. VesselMan demonstrated a strong commitment and served as an invaluable partner in challenging our current methodologies as well as recognising potential opportunities," remarked Karol Prorok, Global Head of Technical at V.Group.

We have managed to gather resources from different parts of the shipping industry, and Sebastian is bringing knowledge and experience we have been lacking. His positive attitude and forward leaning approach is impressive, and I believe he will have great impact to our clients in regards to converting manual processes into a digital environment - he sees and understands the possibilities as well as understanding the complexity!"

One can agree that crew members are the most important "asset" of a vessel. Without the crew, the vessel would not be able to sail, be maintained, loaded or discharged. Like many industries, there is a demand for reduction in resources and crew members onboard vessels. We address this problem by developing better ways to utilize the skills and resources we already have onboard. Ulysses Systems and VesselMan are now working towards making a skill matrix where we are tracking and visualizing what skills our team already has within maintenance, dry-docking and technical projects. We see a massive potential in optimizing the team and fully use all resources when necessary. This feature will help crewing departments in shipping company/ship managements get a better way create awareness of the skills and experience of the crew. Ulysses Systems and VesselMan are experts in understanding maintenance. A big focus area is to ensure the maintenance schedules are adhered to, even if you don’t report the jobs in the sequence expected due to unscheduled events like breakdowns and repair periods like dry-docks. VesselMan is very excited about being part of this collaborative project with Ulysses Hellas S.A which is a project supported by a grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants 2014-2021, in the frame of the programme “Business Innovation Greece”. The project “Crew management system to improve manning based on skills, experience and business requirements” addresses manning problems in relation to vessels technical performance. This project will complement the planned maintenance integrations with technical projects that are already established between Ulysses and VesselMan. Giving the shipping companies best possible utilization of optimized manning, ship repair and maintenance and performance for the voyages. VesselMan is always looking for ways to integrate or partner with other systems in the industry to help our users utilize their day- to day work better. Integration is the key forward to everything involved in digitalization in the maritime industry. Want to learn more about VesselMan, please reach out to us at [email protected].
